If we were going to take a little local vacation in August, where do you think we should go?
- We're looking for an indoor sleeping experience. (Jill has never been camping; this isn't going to be the trip she tries it.)
- Ideally, we'd like to be on a lake, but near a lake is also a possibility.
- Family friendly activities are important. (But could include mostly just hanging out at the beach.)
- Cheap is also important.
- Within 2 hours of home would be great, but isn't an absolute requirement.

A fun place to go--and perfect for beach going, is to Governor Dodge State Park: http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/parks/specific/govdodge/. They have 2 lakes with great beaches. It's a state park, so there are no cabins. However, if you do a google search on Dodgeville hotels you'll find several. You could also spend some time in Spring Green and on the way there or back, some time at some of the family friendly attractions in Madison. I'm a Madison native, so I'm partial. But G. Dodge park is my favorite.

Jill would be a great camper! (I got Dave into it when he realized it's all-you-can-eat hot dogs.)

My sister and her family love taking the ferry to Mackinaw Island. I'm not sure if it meets all your criteria, but if you want more info, I can have her call you.

Door County, Door County, Door County. This was the joy of my childhood. And Wison's Ice Cream...
